Our 3-Week Family Itinerary: Tokyo, Mount Fuji, Kyoto, Osaka & Hiroshima
Japan is a country where every day feels like stepping into a different world.
One morning you’re surrounded by flashing neon signs, giant skyscrapers and thousands of people crossing the streets of Tokyo. A few days later, you’re standing quietly beneath towering bamboo trees, listening to the sound of temple bells in Kyoto.
And then there are those moments you never forget.
The first time your children see the Shinkansen arriving at the platform. The excitement of entering a Japanese theme park.
The look on their faces when they feed deer in Nara.
The peaceful silence of a traditional garden.
When we planned our three-week Japan adventure, we didn’t want to simply collect famous landmarks. We wanted to experience Japan.
To slow down.To explore neighbourhoods.
To eat our way through local markets.
To create memories as a family.
That’s why we created an itinerary that balances big-city excitement with culture, nature, and plenty of moments to recharge.
This is our ultimate family-friendly Japan route.
Welcome to Part 2 of our Japan with Kids guide—the Travelicious way.

Stop 1: Tokyo with Kids
The City Where Everything Feels Possible
Tokyo is a city that looks impossible at first.
It is huge.It is busy.
It is full of lights, sounds and people.
But somehow, within just a few hours, you start to understand its rhythm.
Tokyo isn’t chaotic—it’s organised energy.
The trains move like clockwork. The streets are incredibly clean. Tiny restaurants sit between enormous skyscrapers. Traditional temples appear unexpectedly between modern buildings.
For children, Tokyo feels like a real-life adventure movie.
One minute they’re watching robots and giant screens in Shinjuku. The next they’re making wishes at a quiet temple or discovering a tiny Pokémon shop hidden inside a shopping centre.
This is why Tokyo deserves at least five nights.
There is simply too much to experience.
Tokyo Family Highlights
🏙️ Shibuya Crossing
The famous Shibuya Crossing is exactly as impressive as you imagine.
Standing there with your children, watching hundreds of people move in every direction, is one of those “we are really in Japan” moments.
Nearby, you’ll find plenty of family-friendly shops, cafés and the famous Hachiko statue.
🐟 Tsukiji Outer Market
Japan is a paradise for food lovers, and Tokyo is where the adventure begins.
Even children who are normally hesitant about trying new foods often discover something they love here.
Fresh sushi.Japanese sweets.
Fruit sandwiches.
Tamago (Japanese omelette).Street snacks.
