Best Family Resorts in Turkey: Where Should You Stay?

There is a specific feeling that hits the second you arrive in Turkey for a family break: your shoulders just drop.

Maybe it is the thick wall of heat as you step off the plane. Maybe it is catching that first glimpse of the turquoise Mediterranean from the minibus window. Or honestly, maybe it is just watching the kids spot the pool, instantly forgetting the airport meltdowns and the fact that they were “starving and bored” five minutes ago.

For our family, Turkey has always been one of the few places where a trip actually feels like a break for everyone.

The kids get endless ice cream, waterslides, and evening shows. We get to drink a morning coffee while it is still hot. Best of all, nobody asks, “What are we doing today?” every twenty minutes.

Still, sorting out where to base yourself along the Turkish Riviera can make your head spin. There are just so many massive resorts.

Do you head to Belek? Side? Antalya? Do you pick a mega-hotel with ten different pools, or track down somewhere low-key and quiet? And does an all-inclusive setup actually make sense for the way you travel?

Having dragged our own kids to different corners of the country over the years, we’ve found the right spot really comes down to the kind of days you want to have together.

Belek: when the resort really is the destination

If you asked me to picture the classic Turkish family holiday, Belek pops into my head straight away.

The whole area is built around massive luxury resorts, broad sandy beaches, sprawling pools, kids’ clubs, and onsite water parks. What makes it so effortless for families is that these places run like self-contained little villages.

Sometimes, that kind of bubble is all you really want.

You wake up, wander down to breakfast, grab a sunbed, let the kids race down waterslides until noon, eat some lunch, stroll to the beach, track down an afternoon ice cream, and end up back by the water before dinner. You know the drill. There is practically zero logistics to juggle, which is pure bliss if you are traveling with little ones.

That said, you aren’t stuck behind resort gates if you get restless. The ancient ruins of Perge and the cool shade of Kurşunlu Waterfall are an easy trip out, and The Land of Legends is practically on your doorstep if you want a massive theme park day.

I wrote about how we tackled it all in *Belek with Kids: The Ultimate Family Resort Escape in Turkey*, so check that out before you lock in a hotel.

Family resorts in Belek worth looking at

Sorting through the options here can make your head spin, but a few places keep popping up whenever I talk to other parents.

Rixos Premium Belek leans hard into upscale comforts while still packing the schedule with things for everyone to do. If the trip is entirely about keeping the little ones happy, Selectum Family Resort Belek makes them the center of attention. IC Hotels Santai Family Resort is built from the ground up for travelers with kids in tow, while Bellis Deluxe Hotel pulls in steady crowds thanks to its packed entertainment calendar. For families who judge a trip by pool time, Güral Premier Belek has serious waterpark muscle. Then you have The Land of Legends Kingdom Hotel, which turns your entire stay into a living theme park. Even the local tourism board flags several of these spots as genuinely child- and baby-friendly.

My honest advice? Ignore the shiny star ratings for a minute. Dig into what’s actually waiting on the ground for your children. How good is the kids’ club? Will the waterslides terrify your six-year-old, or bore your twelve-year-old? Can they run barefoot on soft sand, or is the beach full of sharp pebbles? And will you actually fit inside the “family room,” or will you be tripping over suitcases all week?

Those practical bits matter so much more than an extra crystal chandelier hanging over the check-in desk.

Side: the best of both worlds?

Then there’s Side.

If your family gets restless staying trapped inside a resort bubble all week, this is the spot I’d steer you toward. It gives you something Belek just can’t match: an actual living town, packed with local restaurants, market stalls, and cobbled streets to wander after dinner.

Centuries-old ruins sit right in the thick of the resort strip. Standing there watching the sun drop behind the Temple of Apollo, sea breeze on your face, you remember Turkey has far deeper roots than all-inclusive buffets and plastic wristbands. Fast forward to the next morning, though, and you’re happily planted on a sunbed while the kids sprint off to the waterslides.

That balance is tough to top. You still get your pick of huge family-friendly resorts loaded with kids’ clubs, sprawling pools, and waterparks. We genuinely loved jumping between lazy poolside mornings and scrambling through ancient history in the afternoon—yes, the pun on the town’s name was completely unavoidable.

Family resorts in Side

Side is a great place to look at resorts such as:

Selectum Family Resort Side

Voyage Sorgun

Sunis Kumköy Beach Resort

AQI Pegasos World

Seven Seas Hotel Blue

Sentido Kamelya Selin Luxury Resort & Spa

You’re spoiled for choice here, so don’t just grab the first shiny five-star that pops up on your screen. Take an evening, pour a drink, and actually compare them.

Some of these properties are massive party hubs, while others lean quiet. Don’t be fooled by the rating, either: a Turkish five-star doesn’t automatically mean low-lit lounges and hushed corridors. Often, it translates to a roaring waterpark, five sprawling restaurants, three snack shacks, and a mini-disco kicking off the second you sit down to relax.

If you’ve got young kids bouncing off the walls, that chaotic energy might be heaven. Just know what you’re signing up for before you pack your bags.

Antalya: resort holiday meets city break

Then there’s Antalya itself.

To me, this is where Turkey hits the sweet spot for families who get restless after three days on a pool lounger. You can set up camp at one of the massive beachfront spots along Lara Beach, float around the pools, take full advantage of the all-inclusive buffet, and still have a proper, living city right on your doorstep.

Having both options completely Chianges the pace of the trip. One afternoon you’re doing sweet nothing by the water with a cold drink in hand. The next, you’re wandering the narrow, stone-paved alleys of Kaleiçi, ducking down toward the old Roman harbour, and stuffing yourself with warm pide and grilled meat. Trust me on this: Turkish food deserves its own dedicated trip. (We covered our favorite spots in detail in our *Antalya with Kids: Beaches, Old Town & Family Adventures* guide.)

If you do go the resort route, the area has some great family spots with stellar reviews, including the Lara Barut Collection and Swandor Hotels & Resorts – Topkapi Palace.

The other big perk?

The transfer.

Trust me, when you’ve just hauled two exhausted kids off a flight—juggling suitcases, carry-ons, and the roughly 47 random toys they suddenly can’t live without—a quick transfer feels like pure heaven.

So, which Turkish resort area is best for families?

Honestly? I wish I could give you a single, tidy answer, but there isn’t one. The right spot really just comes down to what you want your days to actually feel like with the kids in tow.

Choose Belek if…

If you’re craving that classic, high-end family getaway where everything is taken care of, this is your spot. Picture massive swimming pools, winding waterslides, sandy shores, and kids’ clubs that keep everyone happy without you ever stepping foot outside the resort gates. I’ve found Belek works brilliantly if your kids are old enough to throw themselves into the daily games, but still young enough that an on-site waterpark feels like pure magic.

Choose Side if…

Pick Side if you like the comfort of a resort but get restless sitting still all week. You can laze by the pool all morning, wander into town for dinner, brush past crumbling Roman columns on your evening walk, and wrap up the night with melting scoops of dondurma. To me, that’s about as good as a family trip gets.

Choose Antalya if…

Pick Antalya if you crave a little bit of everything. I’m talking lazy beach mornings, Roman ruins in the afternoon, and great little dinner spots scattered across the old town. It really hits the sweet spot if you get restless sitting by a hotel pool all week and actually want to get out and explore.

And what about all-inclusive?

People ask us this all the time: is all-inclusive actually worth the money when you have kids in tow?

For Turkey, my answer is a solid yes. That holds double if you plan to treat the resort as part of the trip itself, not just a bed for the night.

Honestly, the real joy comes down to skipping the endless daily negotiations. Someone’s hungry? Go grab food. The kids spot an ice cream cart? Done. They want one more run down the pool slide before drying off? Go for it. Or maybe it’s 4:00 PM and they need an emergency snack because, according to them, lunch happened back in the stone age? Handled. And if your kids have wildly different ideas about what counts as edible, that sprawling dinner buffet is an absolute sanity-saver.

You don’t have to stay trapped on property, either. We love lounging by the water for two days straight, zero effort required, before renting a car for a day trip elsewhere. To me, that balance is the sweet spot.

Don’t forget to book the experiences too

I see families make this mistake all the time: they book a gorgeous resort and never set foot outside the front gates.

Trust me, I get the temptation. A cold drink and a lounger by the pool are hard to walk away from. But Turkey has far too much going on to spend your whole trip anchored to a sunbed. Wherever your base is, you’ve got crumbling ancient ruins to wander through, boats waiting to cut across the Mediterranean, rushing waterfalls, and water parks like The Land of Legends.

My best piece of advice? Lock in a couple of activities before you even pack your bags. That way, you won’t waste sunny mornings hunched over your phone comparing tour desks while the kids pull on your arm, begging to jump back in the pool.

Our favourite thing about Turkey?

Honestly? It’s the balance.

You can do the completely lazy pool-day thing, but you can also get your fill of wild history and adventure without really trying. Tuesday morning has you wandering through sun-baked Roman ruins, and by Wednesday afternoon you’re drifting in the cool, salty Mediterranean. Come 8pm, you’re parked at the dinner buffet, watching your kids somehow polish off a fifth slice of sticky watermelon while you wonder where on earth they’re going to put the baklava.

That’s Turkey with kids in a nutshell. Travel here doesn’t need to be hard work, which is probably why our family keeps returning year after year.
