FUN THINGS TO DO IN BELEK, TURKEY

Belek is about much more than golf, tennis, football and international politic events. Belek is situated at the Turkish Rivièra, approximately 30 kilometer east of Antalya. So, here are our recommendations of fun things to do in Belek, aside from sports.

HOW TO GET TO BELEK

Belek is approximately 1000 kilometers from Amsterdam. You can fly to Antalya in 4 hours with, for example, KLM or Transavia. It is best to compare all flight tickets on the Skyscanner or Tix website. At Skyscanner you can easily see on the calendar which day is the cheapest to fly. Once you’ve found a date, you can also compare prices on Tix’s website. The prices and conditions can sometimes differ, so you can always compare. The conditions at Tix are often more flexible, so paying a little more also has its advantages.

However, you can also choose to divert to Dusseldorf or Brussels. For us (living in the middle of The Netherlands) it is only a 2 hour drive. And often saves a lot of money!

✈ Flying: You can get a return ticket to Antalya for 180 euros at www.Pegasusairlines.com and www.Sunexpres.com

or compare all flight tickets on www.Tix.nl

✈ Tip: Book a taxi in advance, they will pick you up and bring you to the hotel in no time.

OUR FAVOURITE HOTEL

Located in Belek which is the best known holiday destination of Antalya, the most famous city of Turkish tourism.

Megasaray Club Belek offers its guests a feeling of comfort and serenity at the same time, www.clubmegasaray.com

With the Ultra All Inclusive accommodation concept there is no worry in the world. Our children love it here, because they can get their own cocktail (alcohol-free of course) or a slush puppy and let’s not forget the fries and ice cream. For the mum and dad’s there are cocktails (with alcohol ), Gozleme, Doner, burgers and fries.

Pool and Beach

In the new aquapark, which was put into service in the summer of 2020, you’ll find excitement and adventure. Whether you are a child or an adult, there is no limit to the fun!

There is a:

Activities

There are lots of daily activities to do which are free of charge such as surfing and canoeing. But to increase the fun you can also go and do a lot of paid activities. My husband and brother went parasailing for instance. Great views with a touch of adrenaline.

Mini Club

From the ages 4 to 17, there is a variety of activities that can be done, such as miniature golf, painting, bowling, table tennis or for the big kids night camp pyjama party.

WHAT TO DO IN BELEK

Spend a Day Beachside

Imagine 10 miles of pristine, white sand gently sloping into the calm, turquoise blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea, therefore making Belek the ideal beach holiday destination. Families especially adore it because a host of water sports are available for rent.

Save the Turtles

Humans are not the only ones who love the beaches of Belek. Giant Caretta Caretta turtles also favour the fine, white grains of sand. Also known as loggerhead turtles, they are officially a vulnerable species and during the early summer months, lay their eggs along the whole of the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. Belek is one of the most important nesting areas in Turkey and EKAD that is part of the official Mediterranean Association to Save Sea Turtles is always looking for volunteers to help with data collection, nest protection and public awareness by informing people using the beaches why they should not upset the nests. Drop into their center while you are on holiday or, maybe sign up for their volunteer program.

Relax, revitalize and Rejuvenate

Inside the luxurious hotels in Belek, are some of Turkey’s best spa and wellness centers. You do not have to be a guest to buy the packages so; anyone with a golfing partner can tap into some “me” time, while they are on the course. As well as showing you how to spa correctly, their luxury treatments include a broad range of massages, facial and body care. Tapping into the ancient Ayurveda healing treatments of India, as well as otherworldly body treatments, they also have a mini spa package for the kids. Including a chocolate packing, the girls went wild!

Explore Further

Theatre and Historical Ruins of Aspendos: Just 23 kilometers away, these ancient ruins are Antalya’s top visited attraction. The theatre is especially noted as one of the finest, intact, and preserved Roman structure in the world.

Jeep Safari and White Water Rafting: Also called a mountain safari, and sold as a daytime excursion, tourists enjoy the freedom of an open top vehicle that heads into the mountains to visit places rarely mentioned in the guidebooks. Combined with a delicious lunch and a beginner’s white water rafting experience, it turns into a fun day out for families.

Myra, Kekova, and Simena: As another full daytime excursion, you can head westwards to the ancient city ruins of Myra and the church of Saint Nicholas who in western culture is Santa Claus. Getting off the bus in the small traditional village of Ucagiz, they then sail over the sunken ruins of Kekova to get to Simena from which fantastic panoramic views are available from the castle.

Temple of Apollo and Side Town Ruins: Heading east for 50 minutes on the bus will take you to the small and delightful coastal resort of Side. Its famous landmark of the Temple of Apollo wins admiration especially at sunset.

Antalya City Centre: The last of our recommendations of things to do in Belek is to catch a bus to Antalya city center, which is the heart of the region. Spend a whole day touring its highlights and major landmarks including Duden waterfalls, the archaeological museum, and aquarium that has the longest tunnel in Europe. For lunch, stop by the old town (kaleici) that is famously entranced by Hadrian’s gate and sit seaside in one of the harbour restaurants.
